Summary

Optivity Enterpriseā„¢ 7.0 is Bay Networks' industry-leading network management solution for the enterprise network. The packaging of the component has changed in this release to reflect the two new RMON products that replace Design and Analysis. Optivity Enterprise 7.0 will be officially announced September 30.

Product Transition/Migration Information

Upgrading from Enterprise 6.0 and 6.5 to 7.0 is encouraged and recommended. Optivity Enterprise 7.0 will provide customers the most functionality in the application software as well as the broadest level of operating system and platform support. Customers who currently have purchased, or who have been upgraded to Enterprise 6.5 with Software Services contracts will receive no charge upgrades of both Analysis 7.0 and Planning 7.0 to replace Design and Analysis 6.0.

Compatibility and Dependency

Optivity Enterprise 7.0 provides a compatible combination of the Optivity component packages. Optivity LAN 7.0 is compatible with Optivity Internetwork 6.2 and Optivity Analysis 7.0 and Planning 7.0. Please refer to the matrix below for specific details. The components of Optivity Enterprise 7.0 are shaded.

Packaging and Documentation

Optivity LAN 7.0, Internetwork 6.2, Analysis 7.0 and Planning 7.0 are available separately for each of the following three management platforms: HP OpenView Network Node Manager; SunNet Manager; and IBM NetView/6000 for AIX. Additionally, it is possible to load Analysis 7.0 and/or Planning 7.0 independent of an SNMP management platform.

The product includes a comprehensive, award-winning set of manuals, including a Getting Started Guide and User's Guide.

Network Management Brochure

A brochure explaining the benefits of managing today's complex networks with Optivity (part number BR508-1343WC-D) is now available. This informational pamphlet predates Optivity LAN 7.0 and provides a detailed discussion of the Bay Networks position and strategy on state-of-the-art of network management.

Warranty Information

Bay Networks provides a 90 day warranty for software media from date of delivery to the end-user. Warranty service is provided under a "return to factory" repair or exchange program and can be obtained by calling your local product reseller or by contacting Bay Networks directly.
